The journey began with a simple question.
How do you create a private sanctuary in one of South Perth’s busiest locations?
On paper, the site presented its challenges. Angelo Street is vibrant, connected and constantly alive.
Many would have designed a home that simply acknowledged the street.
We chose to design one that allowed you to forget it existed.
From the very first sketch, the vision wasn’t to create the biggest home or the most extravagant home. It was to create a feeling.
A feeling that begins the moment you arrive.
As you leave the street behind and make your way towards the front door, something changes. The noise softens. The architecture becomes more intentional. Landscaping begins to surround you. Light filters through carefully framed spaces. The outside world slowly disappears, replaced by a sense of calm that feels more like arriving at a luxury retreat than returning home.
That feeling became the benchmark for every decision that followed.
Every wall, every window, every courtyard, every material and every line was considered not simply for how it looked, but for how it would make someone feel every single day.
Natural light was carefully captured. Privacy was protected without sacrificing openness. Living spaces were positioned to flow effortlessly into gardens, the pool and outdoor entertaining areas.
Parents, children and guests were all given spaces to retreat, while remaining connected as a family. Even future accessibility was considered through the inclusion of a lift and a thoughtful, long-term layout.
The architecture itself tells a similar story.
Strong sculptural forms provide confidence and presence, while warm timber, textured finishes and lush landscaping soften the experience, creating a home that feels both timeless and welcoming. What appears bold from the street becomes unexpectedly peaceful once inside.
Then there’s the heart of the home.
A kitchen that naturally becomes the place where everyone gathers. Living spaces that open effortlessly to the alfresco. Sunlight reflecting across natural stone, polished concrete and warm timber throughout the day. Views extending through gardens, across the pool and into private courtyards, ensuring every room feels connected to nature.
Outside, Villa Alia continues the same philosophy.
The pool, firepit, landscaped gardens and double-storey operable louvred alfresco weren’t added as features on a checklist. They were designed to create moments. Quiet mornings. Family dinners. Long summer evenings with friends. Spaces that encourage people to slow down, gather together and enjoy being home.
But perhaps the most rewarding part of Villa Alia isn’t the finished home. It’s the journey.
Watching an idea evolve from a vacant block into a home that people can now walk through and genuinely experience has been incredibly rewarding. It took patience, collaboration and an unwavering commitment to quality from our entire team, our trusted trades and our suppliers. Every person involved helped shape what Villa Alia has become today.
For us, Villa Alia was never about building a display home.
