Interior home colours

Trends come and go, and while it’s always nice to know what they are, it doesn’t necessarily mean we need to be a slave to them. They can be fantastic for guidance, especially when you’re seeking creative inspiration. One of the projections for next year’s colour design trends is composed colours with sophisticated hues. Think mineral greys and taupe beiges that will add style, depth and an element of luxury to your home. If industry forecasts are anything to go by, the colour of the year looks set to be green, with hits of deep emerald used as accents around the home, and leafy plants making their way indoors. Rich earthy elements, such as cork and terracotta, can be used in furnishings and floorings to add texture and warmth to nature-themed backdrops.

Exterior home colours

When it comes to painting the exterior of your home, it’s a good idea to pick a colour that is not only a classic, but comfortable as well. Experts say that darker exterior colours, such as deep grey, can increase the internal heat of a house by up to 6%. Not only that, but the additional heat can stress the structure of the building, causing it to buckle or crack. Instead, it is best to stick to lighter, more neutral colours, such pale grey, light beige or white. If you really have your heart set on darker tones, try matching them with the predominant light colour of the house to accentuate house trimmings, such as deep grey gutters. This will add a rich, luxurious look to your home. When selecting a colour scheme, try heading over the road to get an overall view of the property and see how its ‘curb appeal’ can be enhanced. You’ll be able to see how it ties in with the surrounding houses as well.

Here at Averna Homes, we are loving these new emerging colour trends. However, what’s more important to us is that our clients are happy, which means they should also incorporate their own unique style into the design of their new luxury home.
