Experts say that darker exterior colours, such as deep grey, can increase the internal heat of a house by up to 6%. Not only that, but the additional heat can stress the structure of the building, causing it to buckle or crack. Instead, it is best to stick to lighter, more neutral colours, such pale grey, light beige or white. If you really have your heart set on darker tones, try matching them with the predominant light colour of the house to accentuate house trimmings, such as deep grey gutters. This will add a rich, luxurious look to your home. When selecting a colour scheme, try heading over the road to get an overall view of the property and see how its ‘curb appeal’ can be enhanced.
