A vision of elegantly melding timeless style with a tasteful, minimal aesthetic came to life when Averna Homes designed the Villa Bella.

Averna Homes Project Director, Jamie Sim, said the design inspiration for this two-storey abode was simple and direct.

“It was around being a good, honest family home,” he said. “Nothing over the top, yet nothing too plain.”

Averna Homes Design Development Manager, Chantelle Nagamany, said that given the proportions of the home, a delicate approach was taken to the finishes selected.

“In order to achieve a timeless look, we explored the use of soft charcoal timbers and limestone tones to evoke a sense of tranquillity throughout the home,” she said.

“We then complemented these undertones with humble curved forms expressed through the cabinetry design.”

Upon entry, you are greeted by a soaring, open space with striking natural light and an elegant staircase, which is simply decorated with an elegant light feature.

Ms Nagamany said that the pendant lights were chosen to implement a sense of scale and to draw the eye towards the void.

“These pieces transcend like jewellery, softly transforming the entry space and giving you a sense of what is beyond as you enter,” she said.

At the front of the home, a guest bedroom is a peaceful retreat for visitors, boasting a walk-in robe and a generous ensuite.

Continuing the crisp palette, the ground floor also comprises two living zones, including an entertainment room and an impressive open-plan living, dining and kitchen area.

The kitchen features limestone benchtops, a scullery and modern appliances. They include induction cooktops, a double oven and integrated fridges.

“There is also an integrated dishwasher hidden in the butler’s pantry – everything can be stored out of sight from the main area but still in close proximity to the main kitchen.”

With views to the covered alfresco and swimming pool, Mr Sim said that the cedar ceilings in the kitchen flow to the outdoor area.

“We wanted to create an indoor/outdoor connection, and we used materials to achieve that.”

Ms Nagamany said that the spatial planning was a beautiful feature of the residence. “It allows for the environment to permeate internally, ensuring the home and the landscaping feel as one,” she said.

Upstairs, three minor bedrooms with walk-in robes share a family bathroom with double basins, two vanities, a large shower, and a separate toilet.

“These larger-sized bedrooms provide enough room for the kids to grow into,” Ms Nagamany said.

The parents’ retreat is also on this level. It is a private space filled with an abundance of natural light via sliding doors, which open to the balcony.

Walk into a palatial, open-plan ensuite and walk-in robe where the contemporary aesthetic adds a luxury feel.

“It is a magnificent, show-stopping space,” Mr Sim said. “The three VELUX skylights add brightness, which can be toned down by the curtains.”

Ms Nagamany said that the thought process behind this unique layout was to maximise the interaction and communication between couples.

“Given the amount of light that floods the room, it’s a beautiful space, which we have been able to open up and integrate, creating complete flexibility between the zones,” she said.
